Looking to build on the strong growth it enjoyed in 2017, Hemisphere Freight is delighted to announce three new additions to its UK team.

Christopher McNeil

Joining Lee Pearson in our Import Logistics Solutions department, Chris brings a huge amount of shipping experience to Hemisphere.

Chris kicked off his shipping career at Anglo Overseas – handling deep sea shipments – before spending seven years at Allport Cargo Services in Southampton, where he worked with the likes of House of Fraser and Hobbycraft. As well as gaining invaluable experience of working on blue-chip accounts, Chris’ time at Allport also saw him win the company’s inaugural award for Customer Service and Commitment to Service Excellence.

Prior to joining Hemisphere, Chris served as operations coordinator for Procurus, a role that saw him establish and manage the supply chain for international drinks giant Bacardi – entailing numerous trips to China and Hong Kong. He is now looking to strengthen his knowledge and experience at Hemisphere, which he describes as “a hugely successful and forward-thinking company, whose values and ambition match my own.”

Chris used to be a keen downhill biker, completing the World Cup course at Ben Nevis on numerous occasions. He now prefers the slightly-less-dangerous activity of playing darts in the local leagues of Ipswich and Felixstowe – however, the lack of mountains in this part of the world may have something to do with that.

Kirsty Snyman

Kirsty recently relocated to the UK from her native South Africa, where she’d been working for Hemisphere’s partner firm, South African Mercantile Company (SAMC). She has previous experience of working in the UK, spending six years at Gofers Logistics – for whom we handled clearance and deliveries – until moving back to South Africa in 2013.

In her role as Business Development Manager, Kirsty will no doubt strengthen our existing partnership with SAMC, while also harnessing her prior experience in supply chain consultancy in order to deliver effective logistics solutions to new and existing clients.

“Having worked closely with Hemisphere for the past couple of years, I knew they were the perfect fit for me upon moving back to the UK,” said Kirsty. “I’ve also known Louis [Perrin] for eight years, so I already feel at home at the company.”

In her spare time, Kirsty loves gardening and looking after her two labradors, not to mention her two children.

Sergio Borges

With a strong background in both air freight and aerospace, we’re excited to bring Sergio on board as Air Sales Co-Ordinator at our London Heathrow office.

Sergio will be the first point of contact with our commercial customers and overseas agents, providing in-depth air freight quotations and assisting clients in finding the most efficient and financially profitable methods to move their shipments. He will also be involved in strategic sales and operation planning, while liaising with operations and internal sales teams on shipments that require special handling and attention.

Before starting his career in logistics, Sergio spent over two decades working in media, journalism and IT. His first taste of transport came at Netherlands-based Jan de Rijk Logistics. He then shifted his focus to supply chain, joining Boeing as an analyst. This equipped Sergio with the knowledge and experience to take his career forward, and we’re fortunate to now be benefitting from his expertise.

“I was quite excited when I heard about the role with the airsales team at Heathrow,” said Sergio “The job spec was fascinating and I realised straightaway that it would be a great opportunity to develop my skills and contribute my expertise to a company that I had known very well for many years.”

As well as being an air freight expert, Sergio is also something of a pop culture addict. He even has his own spot on RDP Internacional, a national Portuguese radio station, as London correspondent.
