Fred. Olsen TVO Antenna

Overview

In the cruise and ships spares industry, a reliable supply chain is vital. We were approached earlier this year by our customer to arrange the transportation of a replacement TVO antenna for a Fred. Olsen cruise ship, which was required for installation on a set date – when the vessel was due back in Southampton. This required a coordinated effort across several departments within the Hemisphere Freight Services (HFS) operation.

This specialist item was only available from a supplier on the west coast of the USA. With a tight deadline, we had to work with our US partners to move this item cross-country to Houston to ensure we met the estimated time of departure (ETD) required here in the UK.

There was a further hurdle to overcome as part of the control system was not going to be completed on time. However, we were able to overcome this problem by arranging for the component in question to follow by air freight.

Delivery

On arrival in the UK, we were able to arrange customs clearance and de-vanning from the ocean freight container into our bonded warehouse facility, where we were able to reunite the main unit with the control system which had already arrived by air.

Our import team were then able to raise a T1 transit document to clear the goods for loading to the vessel. Finally, delivery was co-ordinated on our own vehicles to tie in with the crane facilities required for loading to the vessel.

This is just one of many ships spares and shipside delivery operations that Hemisphere Freight Services (HFS) handle throughout the year.
