Although peak season is fast-approaching, we still have time to keep you posted on the latest goings-on at Hemisphere. Here are a few things from September that we wanted to put on your radar.
Employee Milestones
Six Hemisphere employees celebrated a ‘work anniversary’ this month, so we thought we’d take this opportunity to recognise them. Hitting an impressive eight years with Hemisphere in September was Dan Norris, a key part of our Air Freight Sales team and one of our Dangerous Goods Safety Advisors. Based at our London Heathrow office, Dan’s daily role includes quoting all forms of air freight shipments for Hemisphere.
Elsewhere, Colin Herbert has now racked up five years at Hemisphere, despite reaching retirement age last year. As European Quotations Coordinator, Colin sources rates and services for our European export and import customers. This involves constantly looking for new suppliers and services to make sure we offer the very best service at a competitive rate.
That leaves four team members who have all completed three years with the company: Norberto Geada and Ian McKean, who work in our warehouse as a Forklift Driver and Accounts Administrator respectively, and Sonia Lochrie and Suzie Smith, both Freight Administrators in the Exports department. “During my time with Hemisphere, I’ve been offered various training courses to develop my skills,” said Norberto. “There’s a great sense of teamwork here, and the company genuinely has the needs of its employees at heart.”
Meet Jack Reddington
This month sees Jack Reddington join the Exports team as our latest apprentice. Working under the watchful eye of Malcolm Howell, Jack is currently absorbing everything he can from both Malcolm and Katie Murphy. “I am eager to learn more about the whole process of shipping goods from A to B, as I have no previous experience in logistics and just want to learn everything I can, “ said Jack. “I am determined to do well and go far at Hemisphere.”
Jack has already enjoyed dealing with shipping agents across the world, which has required him to be fully aware of timezones before picking up the phone or sending an email. “I was so happy when I found out about the placement – I couldn’t quite believe it,” he added. “That was the point when I became so determined to work hard and complete the BIFA apprenticeship.”
When Jack is not learning the ropes, he likes to grace the football field for Capel Plough while supporting his beloved Arsenal. Welcome to the team, Jack. We look forward to ‘forwarding’ your career.
