Packing Operative

At HFS, our Export Packing and Case Making team has established itself as a reliable partner for companies in a number of sectors. Boasting almost 20 years’ experience, we provide professional packing solutions for all products including automotive parts, oil and gas equipment, artwork, museum artefacts, motorcycles, and manufacturing machinery.
The role will involve:
Whilst this role is based at our White House Road, Ipswich site, we may also require the role to provide some occasional cover at our other sites or Customer sites, therefore a degree of flexibility will be required.
- Working with timber and plywood to build and produce, packing cases and pallets for our customers’ products.
- Ensuring that the product is packed or loaded or unloaded according to Hemisphere and Customer specifications.
- Ensure work is carried out to the best of operative's abilities, and that its meets specification.
- Seek training to maintain skills and remain up to date with best practice.
- Work as part of a team and take responsibility for own work.
- Carry out all procedures in a safe manner in accordance with training.
- Comply with Health & Safety policy and procedures.
- Maintain responsibility for operational effectiveness of equipment and machinery and report faults in a timely manner.
- Maintain personal PPE
- Carry out any other reasonable duties assigned.
- General warehouse duties.
You will need to have:
As a Packing Operative, you’ll ensure that best practices are followed for maximum efficiency and that the most suitable working environment is attained for its employees and their activities. You’ll be involved in day-to-day operations.
- Previous experience of working as an Export Packer or case maker (e.g., measuring, cutting timber & foam, using saws, nail guns, drills, and other hand tools).
- Ability to work accurately with great attention to detail.
- Ability to work to deadlines.
- Good at working with your hands.
- Current Forklift Licence & experience of working within a warehousing environment is essential.
- Good communication skills
- Manual handling
- A practical, flexible, and innovative approach to work.
- A full driving license may be required, due to travelling between sites.
